Kristen Clanton was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, lived in Omaha, Nebraska for a little over two years, and now resides in the Black Hills. She earned a dual BA in English and Writing at the University of Tampa before finishing her MFA at the University of Nebraska. She has taught English and writing at the college level for eight years, studies ballet, and makes her own clothes. She spends most of her time hiking in the mountains, teaching her son and daughter how to identify birds by their calls and plants by their leaves. Her poetry and short fiction have been published by the After Happy Hour Review, Arkana, Bicycle Review, Birds We Piled Loosely, BlazeVOX, Burlesque Press, Fine Lines, Furious Gazelle, Gingerbread House Review, Leopardskin & Limes, Mad Hatter’s Review, Mangrove Review, Midnight Circus, Otis Nebula, Otto Magazine, Outrider Review, Paper Nautilus, Ragazine, South Florida Poetry Journal, Sugar House Review, and Thistle Magazine. She is currently working on a novel, the first chapter of which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
